Things to do When Rushed to an Emergency Doctor Brooklyn Hospital

An Emergency Doctor Brooklyn practice treats patients who are not in a position to go to their regular Walk in Medical Clinic. This doctor usually deals with patients in the emergency room since they could not get an appointment due to severe wounds, illness, time of day or other doctors are unavailable. Emergency doctors are trained professionals who are required to be prepared to make a diagnosis and treatment plans for many illnesses, wounds and other mishaps at short notice and with little to no information on the patient & history. The doctor works based on the severity of a patient’s symptoms, and below are a few things that you should do in the eventuality you are rushed to the emergency room.

Call your Doctor

While on the way to the Emergency Room (ER), make sure to call in your regular doctor and provide information on the hospital you are going to and extent of your symptoms or injuries. When the ER doctors hear from their fellow physicians, they are more likely to listen, and they have a clearer picture of your history and your symptoms.

If Possible do not Use an Ambulance

Many people have the false belief that if you are taken to the ER in an ambulance, you will be whisked straight away to the doctors. In most cases, if the doctors do find out that you can walk, they will more than likely, ask you to get off the gurney, go to the waiting room, and wait with the others.

Do not Get Intimidated

The triage nurse is the individual making the all-important decision of who needs to be seen first. If he or she does nothing to help you, speak up and ask to see the person in charge do, not remain quiet.

Be Polite

In an effort to gain attention, some ER patients resort to lying, even getting angry and hauling insults at the staff. This, however, does not help one to gain anything all it does is increase the tension around the room. The best thing is to do is remain calm and stick to basic etiquette.

Use the Phone

Should things degenerate from bad to worse, look for a house phone and dial zero to get a hold of the hospital administrator. It is his or her job to see that every patient is happy.
