The main reason for this is that you are not paying for things that you may never use, such as recreation passes nor are you having utilities bundled into room and board with no way of being able to control what is being used. when you make the decision to move into UGA off campus student housing, you only pay for what you personally are using, which generally turns out to be much cheaper in the long run.
