Health and Nutrition Tips for West Orange Residents

Beach season may be right around the corner, but there’s more to looking good than just the fit of your polka dot bikini. Health is as much mental as it is physical, and it is imperative that you feel as good as you look. With that in mind, we are pleased to offer some tips and tricks to help get you there:

  • Get a good night’s sleep. Doctors and Sleep Medicine Specialists agree that a proper night’s sleep help to keep your biorhythm in sync, in turn regulating you memory, coordination, emotions, and endurance. Think of it as your brain’s turn to rest and repair!
  • Eat a balanced diet. Paying attention to hunger cues is crucial to weight management, as is keeping an eye on the actual foods you eat. Focus the majority of your diet on lean meats (chicken, turkey, certain fish), whole grains (wheat, rice, amaranth, millet), and fruits and veggies, limiting your intake of processed foods high in sugar and fat to the occasional treat.
  • Supplement your digestive health with probiotics. The natural bacteria in your gut erodes as you age, making you more susceptible to digestive complications and infections. A personalized regimen of probiotics can help to rebalance your GI tract.
  • Get moving. In addition to regular movement throughout the day (take the stairs!), make an effort to exercise at least three to four times per week. If you’ve experienced difficulty in the past motivating yourself to work out, consider joining a gym.
